Eugeneos – Gain – My Mama Said – Mr.Beat (SPS018)

Here’s something nice that appeared in our mailbox this week. Italian dj & producer Eugeneos‘ new EP with a very long title: Gain – My Mama Said – Mr.Beat. He’s a new name for us but it was a pleasant surprise listening to his new drop that will be released via Soundpersecond Records.

The EP contains 3 tracks as you might have figured out when reading the title of the post. The EP is due in a few weeks, so be patient and stay tuned.

Eugeneos

Born in Rome early 1991 as Eugenio Carlesimo and raised with the sound of Radio Centro Suono Roma and his father’s favorites Incognito, Simply Red, Barry White, George Benson, Al Jarreau, Chaka Khan and Quincy Jones. With this in mind, Eugenio has been experimenting with genres like Deep & Soulful House, Tech House, Nu-Jazz, Chill House, Jackin House.

Eugeneos sounds very specific genres but sought ranging from Deep & Soulful House, Tech House, Nu-Jazz, Chill House, Jackin House. In the same year he graduated in 2010 he decided to join the group of the Scuola DJ Roma to learn the required skills to become what he is now, a dj/producer.

In June 2012 his first production ‘Radio’ was released via StepSal music. The deep house release also contained a remix from Dark Boy.

One year later his second single ‘Deep Relation’ saw the light of day via Axel Dj Records.Other productions that have come out lately are ‘No Music No Life’ and ‘Freedom’, ‘Stronger’ and ‘You Are My Life’ (with a remix from Axel Dj).

The upcoming EP is then, came in as a little surprise. Listening to it several times kept us pressing play time after time. The opening track ‘Gain’ is a dark, imposing, hypnotic & infectious tech-house banger. Minimal sounding beat, 303 line, distorted sounds and a dark evil voice. It’s all it took for us to put it on repeat.

Second track ‘My Mama Said’ has a great bassline and a vocal sample that seems to come from a movie (let us know which if you know). This track perfectly fits with the opening track. Floor filler for sure.

Last track ‘Mr.Beat’ is more uptempo. Fast-paced beat with the same deep bassline as ‘My mama Said’. Deep and dark synths make it a hypnotic techno groove.
