Frank Apollo

Frank Apollo’s deep vibe. Tune in.

Deep vibes and dark tunes.

Frank Apollo made us a fantastic second guest mix. He has a great way to enthuse with his music. The track selection for this mix is not so new but is so good.

Please enjoy the mix and the short Q&A below.

What can we expect from this second mix you made for us?
First of, thanks Tanzgemeinschaft for the opportunity. It was a pleasure to do another mix! This second edition one got some really deep tracks with long synths and melodic elements in it, but some tunes still stay quite dark. I like this combination!

Tracklist:
01. Lane 8 – March of the Forest Cat
02. Dennis Ferrer ft. Ben Westbeech – Right Thing
03. Sabb – One Of Us feat. Forrest (Dennis Ferrer Remix)
04. Kiko & Olivier Giacomotto – Beautiful Place
05. Noir feat. Richard Judge – Keep Up (Club Mix)
06. Defenition – Janus
07. Olivier Giacomotto – Bipolar Star (Original Mix)
08. Noir & Haze – Around
09. Mano Le Tough – Primative People (Tale Of Us Remix)
10. Yotto – Off The Grid
11. Groove Armada – Paris (Andhim Remix)

Your previous mix dates back from 6 months ago. What has changed in between?
A lot! I really feel the progress coming and I also received awesome feedback from friends and family. I was (and still am) able to do Mixes on a live radio show called CMB-Radio. With the mixes, I found new songs and labels, which helped me to find more my style in Djing. I really fell for Tech House/Techno and that’s what I now mostly play in clubs and at gigs! But in the end, I don’t want to categorize my style too precisely. I want to stay open-minded and this Mix is the perfect example that I love the diversity of today’s electronic music and I’m eager to find more and more dope tracks!

What’s next to expect from Frank Apollo? Big plans for the next 6 to 12 months?
At the moment my plan is to become better in producing and to release more tracks!
I also would love to play at an outdoor festival the next summer.

What do you find most challenging about the music business?
For me, it’s a combination of time and Social Media that’s challenging. Nowadays you have to stay active and promote yourself and your music on Social Media. It’s an awesome possibility, but on the other hand, time-consuming and sometimes I feel music comes second place…

What or who inspires you—inside and outside of DJing and electronic music?
Definitely, the amount of awesome tracks that come out each day and the artists! Everywhere I look, I find creative music and people that are connected to it! The community of the electronic music is huge (and music in general) and I feel supported by it. And of course, my buddies who I DJ with! Friendship makes it all 1.000 times better.

What are your fondest musical memories? In your house? In your neighbourhood or town?
When I started with electronic music, I was always DJing together with my brother. There was this one gig and a huge crowd for the first time. We needed some time to get the people warmed up, but at this one point we knew, we had the whole crowd on our hand. There was so much energy around and it was such a perfect moment!
These moments, when you know the people love your style/music/djing at a gig and they want you to keep going, make me remember why I love Djing and music that much!
