How Electronic Music is More Than Just a Party Starter

How Electronic Music is More Than Just a Party Starter

The power of music goes beyond the usual head bobbing, party-inducing beats

As a matter of fact, it’s such a strong and influential tool that it can evoke different emotions and affect our habits of thinking in more positive ways. Due to the mental charm it has on us, there’s a link that somewhat bridges our souls to the artists, and all the like-minded people in different parts of the world. Aside from this, music, regardless of genre, impacts our overall learning process and memory retention.

Academia features a written report that tackles how background music influences university students and their study habits. It highlights the correlation of various genres like techno, house, and dance, to our learning performance. Another important aspect worth noting is that actual music students, or those who took up art-related courses, have higher GPAs and are mostly better scholastic achievers.

In countries such as Japan, the Netherlands, and Hungary, they put an extra premium on music appreciation, education, and participation. This is why – as a whole – students from these nations are extraordinary go-getters, which only further proves its great influence. Now for us to delve deep into the general process and concept of music, let’s look at one of the most popular genres today: electronic music.

At the end of it all, listening, creating, and/or performing music have tons of intangible advantages that give more meaning in this world.

Countless forms of technology dominate our everyday lives

Principally, we now live in a fast-paced world where countless forms of technology dominate our everyday lives. From software programs used by upcoming and world class DJs, to digital streaming services that present live concerts and gigs, to all the other impressive startups, this era offers convenience to a tee. In other words, any aspiring EDM artist has a puncher’s chance to create and distribute their music on a grander scale, which is a far cry to what it was like 10 years ago.

To give us a brief idea of what it’s like to produce music when these tools weren’t readily available, in a short interview with audio and visual artist Rob Anderson, he shared how more than two decades ago, when technology was just at its embryonic stage, he mainly used simple MIDI sounds to make synth-based samples. In a way, these somewhat old school, video game-centric beats can be considered the roots of today’s batch of house tunes.

Music contributes plenty to our lives

Altogether, electronic music and all its subgenres induce adrenaline, which is why it’s one of the many reasons why parties usually have this blaring from the speakers. In contrast to all the classical tunes of the past, the more contemporary genre has deeper effects in the relationship of the artist and listener. Meaning: it inspires a heightened sense of emotional involvement between the music and the people caring to listen.

Music contributes plenty to our lives. Whether we use it for greater academic purposes, or for an intensified video game experience, or as a legitimate party starter, as long as we know how to appreciate it, we’re in for a treat. At the end of it all, listening, creating, and/or performing music have tons of intangible advantages that give more meaning in this world.

It matters little whether you are an artist or a visitor, the love for music is the unifying factor.

We are a magazine & record label dedicated to quality underground electronic music. We do not look for just any music or anyone, we are looking for music, and people who create memorable experiences, that inspires and invokes emotion. Let’s create timeless music.
