Brazilian artist, Mau Maioli drops his second vinyl release via Concrete Sala

Mau Maioli has just released his second song in vinyl format. It is a remix for “Drop Your Guns”, an original track produced in 2002 by musician Dustan Gallas from Piauí, under the alias El Presidente Hi-Fi. Along with two other reinterpretations by Sisto and Hugo Frasa, the song comes on “PROIBIDŒ vol.1” EP, the debut release by the Concrete Sala label, founded by Brazilian digger Priscilla Cavalcante (House of Pris), based in Miami. The record also features a remastering of the original.

Here Maioli retains most of the original structure — quite an old-school techno — but taking it to a more familiar ground to the sound identity he has been developing in recent times, close to an Italo disco 80s feel. His rework brings a baseline driven by an arpeggiated and fat synth, with other synthesizers that complement the melody in an aesthetic that refers to the electroclash of the early 00s.

Hugo Frasa’s remix comes in such a different vibe, with frenetic breakbeats, a scintillating bassline filled with groove and heaviness plus a climate of urgency. Sisto’s, on the other hand, brings a house approach with a pulsating and linear beat, hypnotic, minimalist and spatial melodies and a well-grooved bass, in his own way.

The first volume of the series “PROIBIDŒ” came out at the beginning of June in digital and vinyl formats (300 copies), via Bandcamp.
