On a journey with DomDom

Where are you from and what do you find inspirational about where you’re living?
I was born in Lausanne but I’m based in both Zurich and Lausanne. I live for a few days in both cities. One of the reasons I moved to Zurich for a while now, is to develop my inspiration for electronic music when the electronic scene in Lausanne was not been very developed. Only a few years ago, the underground electronic scene in Lausanne has widely developed and that is one of the reasons I live in both cities of Switzerland. I also spent a long time in England & in Israel in the past and explored deeply their electronic music scenes. My mixes are thus influenced by different electronic cultures – east and wet.

For fans who don’t know much about DomDom, could you tell us a bit about your music background? How did you fall down the music rabbit hole?
I love and listen to music for as long I can remember. I fell in love with the techno scene since the 90’s. Mixing first only for myself, then sharing it with my friends, my audience slowly grew larger and larger.

When did you start DJing/producing – and what or who were your early passions and influences?
I’m a big fan of electro for about 20 years now. I’m only a DJ but it’s an ongoing and evolving process. I have started mixing for myself a long time ago while enlarging and improving my equipment. Influences came from a lot of DJ’s from the bigger global underground labels. Artists by the likes of Nick Warren, Deep Dish, John Digweed, Dave Seaman and co. Also guys like the Israeli DJ’s Guy Gerber, Guy Manzur, Guy J. Then I was slowly looking for more international underground deep ethnic music.

DomDom exploring sounds

How would you describe DomDom’s sound and style?
Underground …. I am continuously exploring uncharted soundscapes which makes I change style from time to time. I started with minimal techno, then progressive and now I’m more in the deep ethnic house.

What can we expect from the mix you made?
Dreams, deep travel, pleasure, deep thoughts on the world’s cultures and beyond.

What is one thing that would make your musical career more successful? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I‘m here to pass a message through my mixes with the goal to continue growing my base to reach more and more people. If I could have a career with this deep passion it would be great. For youngsters, I would say that they need to create a good network and passion will do the rest.

What is your absolute favourite track of the moment?
Wassim Younes – Maia. It’s definitely a fusion between electronic and spirituality. It’s a very old Jewish prayer with a lot of good energy
