Future Stars #04: Ghostlike

Ghostlike

This installment in our Future Stars series comes from down under. Already our fourth edition and all credits go to an artist who is doing his thing for a decade already. Is he still a Future Star? Sure he is, as the sky is the limit and barriers need to be set to be broken. With multiple tracks out on fantastic labels as there are Parquet recordings, Liquid Youth, Subject Recordings, … he is on a mission. Knowing he played Circoloco and shared the stage with Earth’s greatest DJ’ConnectSeth Troxler, Ben UFO, Guy Gerber and so on, we know we are right about this Future Star. Keep an eye on Ghostlike…

His sound can be defined as distinctively dark, experimental combining classical elements to create ghostlike emotional presence in modern house music of these days.

Ghostlike, in a few words

Where are you from?
Sydney, Australia

Can you tell us a bit about your music background? How did you fall down the music rabbit hole?
I have always been drawn towards music and performing. I was a keen music collector from a young age and always wanted my career to be within the music industry.

When did you start DJing/producing – and what or who are your passions and influences?
My Musical background is fairly simple. I have been performing for the past 10 years and producing for about 5.

I listen and draw inspiration from ambient and classical pieces from the likes of Joep Beving, Ludovico Einaudi, A Winged Victory for the Sullen and many others.

How would you describe your sound and style?
My style is definitely on the darker side of house music spectrum as I tend to include more atmospheric as well as classical elements into my records which gives them a somewhat Ghostlike feel. Hence the name.

What can we expect from the mix you made?
A mixture of contemporary electronica & Lo-fi house would probably be the best way to describe this mix. It is also fairly close to what I would sound like at a club or at a festival.

Hope you enjoy it.

What can we expect from you in 2018?
Well, I am always experimenting and working on new ideas so hopefully, I can finalise a new EP which I have been working on, and schedule it out for a release in the first half of this year.
