Your new EP “Tantum” is an intense journey through space and time. Where did the concept come from, and what emotions did you want to leave with your listeners?
“Tantum” was born from the need to build a coherent concept that unites space and time as narrative and sonic elements. Through dynamic structures and immersive sound design, we aimed to create an intense, cinematic experience. The intention is to leave the listener with a sense of controlled tension and evolution, rather than a simple sequence of tracks.
Your tracks convey a strong emotional tension that gradually builds up until it bursts. How important is the element of “time” in constructing a track, both narratively and sonically?
Time is a fundamental structural element in our tracks. Narratively, it allows tension to evolve gradually rather than relying on immediate impact. Sonically, we use progression, repetition, and subtle modulation to control pacing and energy flow, so the release feels earned and cohesive rather than abrupt.
Your bio mentions “unmistakable drama” and sounds that push sound systems to their limits. How much does club experience influence your production process?
Club experience is central to our production. We design tracks with system response in mind, focusing on low-end control, dynamic range, and physical impact to ensure maximum translation on large sound systems.
“Tantum” seems designed to take the listener on a narrative journey. Do you think of your tracks as chapters of a story?
Yes. Each track functions as a self-contained module within a larger narrative arc, defined by its own tension curve, spectral focus, and dynamic role, contributing to the overall structural continuity of the EP.
As a duo, how does your creative workflow work in the studio? Do you have defined roles, or does everything emerge spontaneously and collaboratively?
Most often, spontaneous ideas arise that fit the interplay between a bass and a melody; then the voices are added.
The Swiss electronic scene is constantly evolving. How do your background and cultural context influence your sound?
Our background influences our sound through a strong attention to detail and structure, which reflects the Swiss electronic scene. At the same time, we use this solid foundation to experiment and push intensity, creating a balance between control and expression.
Wout Records is a label deeply focused on sonic and emotional exploration. How did your relationship with the label begin, and how much do you feel represented by its artistic vision?
