Federico Scavo is an Italian DJ/Producer who is now in his 35th year on the circuit as he’s stepped into 2026, and is still as relevant now as he was back in the 90s. His passion for music and knowledge is still thriving and he has an action-packed year to celebrate the anniversary. We caught up with him recently to find out about the moment in his career that made everything change, how he stays creatively inspired, and what else he has on the horizon…

You’ve been DJing for over 30 years. What still excites you about stepping behind the decks today?
What keeps me alive is feeling the thrill of playing in front of people who want to have fun and giving them hours of carefree fun with my music.
What’s one moment in your career that completely changed your trajectory?
Definitely 2002 with the official Pink Floyd remix featuring the group Hot Coffee, and for the occasion, we called ourselves Pink Coffee. It was the first official Pink Floyd remix authorised by Roger Waters.
How did growing up in Tuscany shape your sound and musical taste?
Tuscany is wonderful; it inspires me musically, and it also gives me peace and serenity every time I return home from tours.
When did you realise music wasn’t just passion, but your life path?
From the first album I made in 1994, I was lucky enough to immediately sell 400,000 copies with a song on a compilation and I immediately went on a promotional tour in Canada. From there, I immediately had wonderful feelings.
Your sound blends funky house, groove, and tech. How do you approach building a track from scratch?
I listen to a lot of old songs on YouTube, doing research that takes me many hours to listen to something to “capture” to include in my productions.
Do you start with rhythm, melody, or vibe first?
I start right away by finding an idea, whether it’s vocal or instrumental. The important thing is that there’s a good starting idea, then all the other parts are secondary.
What’s your go-to trick for making a track stand out on a crowded dancefloor?
A production or one of my tracks must always have something different and special inside, and like in my productions, my sets are also based on being different.
After decades in the industry, how do you stay creatively inspired?
I always remain a child first of all, then I try to study the people I observe while they dance and move. Travels also manage to inspire me, in addition to my family, my son Bryan, who gives me love and the right feelings, also as musical inspiration.
What’s one lesson the music industry taught you the hard way?
You must never give up because the life of an artist is made up of ups and downs, and the music industry often destroys you morally by closing doors in your face when perhaps you are in a less productive period.
You have a new single on d:vision, “Show Me Love” – how did that come about, and what was the inspiration behind the track?
I made this track respecting my “recognisable” sound by inserting references to 90s sounds, with Afro-inspired vocals, a deadly combo.
