How It All Started for SamZYArtist– Origins & Musical Direction
You grew up between Bremen and Tehran — two very different worlds. How have these cultural influences shaped your musical identity?
It was a wonderful time, as I spent my childhood in Bremen and my youth in Tehran. In my music, I try to combine both worlds, with cheerful, fast beats or calm instrumental beats.
Your sound blends electronic production with guitar, synthesiser, and vocals in multiple languages. How did you develop this distinctive signature style?
My goal is to reach people through my music in a cross-linguistic way. Languages help me convey my emotions very well, alongside the 80s beat of synthesiser, guitar, and keyboard. These are elements that I like to hear myself and then use.
From comics and watercolour to music and film — creativity has been a constant in your life. What ultimately led you to choose music as your primary outlet?
My music reflects my everyday life, my experiences and my life. I can express my feelings better through the highs and lows.
You’ve released an impressive 73 tracks over 39 releases. What has this consistent, monthly release rhythm taught you about your own creative process?
The music production helped me to have more positive energy in my everyday life, and I tried to understand what my listeners wanted to hear, communicating with them through different beats (whether calm or fast) and thus responding to and passing on this energy.
Your Role in the Industry – Art, Impact & Innovation
You’re not just a musician — you’re a visual artist, filmmaker, keynote speaker, and content creator. How do all these roles feed into each other?
In each role, I speak to prospective customers in a specific way and learn new things through interaction, which I can then apply in other areas.
Your art covers are based on your own watercolour paintings, and your videos often include AR and AI elements. What’s your philosophy when blending technology with art?
I’m driven by the curiosity to combine familiar artistic methods with new or unfamiliar methods to achieve amazing results. Through some small experiments with AI tools in Reels, I realised I wasn’t enjoying it because I wasn’t creating anything creative, so I didn’t pursue it any further. Unlike virtual reality technology, which I’ve been able to use in various projects, it’s really fun, and I think it has great future potential.
You’re also active as a juror in several film festivals and work as a German–Persian interpreter. How do these forms of cultural engagement influence your music projects?
I learn a lot about the people, their culture and get valuable impressions about their motives
Looking Ahead – Vision & Next Steps
You’ve already explored songs in German and English — and next up is your first album in Persian. What can we expect from this project, and what does it mean to you personally?
For me, it’s a kind of return to my roots and also an important project, as I have no previous experience with Persian singing. First, however, I have two albums coming up: one in English, then one in German. These, along with the recently released release 39, are all new territory for me, and I’m now entering it after a short break following release 38 and being accepted into the AWAL music family.
You’ve hinted at a music video release with more elaborate production for “Release 40.” Can you share anything about the concept or what makes it special?
The concept will remain secret until the release, but only so much will be revealed that it is very creative and through my role in various areas, such as a singer-songwriter in English, I will take an important and new step, thus appealing to even more music lovers.
Looking at the next few years, what’s your biggest creative ambition as SamZYArtist — is it tied to music, film, or something that combines it all?
To achieve more success, especially on stage, especially through the combination of everything.
Thank you
