Hey Andreas & Elias,

Welcome. How is it going?
First of all, we want to say thank you for the invitation. We are doing fine! Hope you also doing good 🙂

TGMS: Doing great, thanks for asking.

For fans who don’t know much about you, could you tell us a bit about your music background? How did you fall down the music rabbit hole?
Growing up in the same place, each of us gathered his own experiences. Through the musical influence of his father, Andreas learned to play several instruments and gained his first experiences in a school band. He also played guitar and bass in some bands, which made it clear to him early in which direction he wanted to develop.
Elias love for music came a little later. To understand the musical background he started taking piano lessons some time ago. After several parties and festivals, we got completely hooked on electronic music.

When did you start DJing/producing – and what or who were your early passions and influences?
As teenagers, we heard a lot of different stuff like rock, hip hop or dubstep. Our idols back then were Green Day, Skrillex and Wiz Khalifa. Afterwards, artists like Oliver Koletzki, Township Rebellion or Stephan Bodzin were the first major influences who let us fall in love with the energy of electronic dance music. The feelings these artists gave us made us curious about the magic behind their productions.

Back in 2016, after coming home from another night out with disappointing music in the club we decided to make a change and start to get creative ourselves.

How would you describe your sound and style?
Describing our sound and style is very difficult. We love driving basslines, groovy drums and deep atmospheres. We think that the term Melodic Techno describes our sounds the best.

Where does the name “Third Person” come from?
Our name has different meanings for each of us. Being called Third Person as a duo may seem strange to some. But for us, the third person is the music. On the other hand, it is good to see yourself from a different perspective to be clear about your life and your actions.

Tell us a bit about your latest release, “Two of Us”. How did this EP come together?
After we finished the track Two of Us we sent it to Somatic Records and then had the idea to add 2 additional remixes from other artists. We didn’t have to think long about who we wanted to have on our single. Since we already included tracks from Wolfson in our sets several times, we were very impressed by his productions so we decided to ask him for a remix. Through the Hidden Frequencies Compilation on Somatic Records, we found out about the up-and-coming artist Jaden Raxel. We loved his unique style and therefore decided to send both of them our original and soon received positive feedback.

One of the remixes on the release has been picked up by the masters of Tale of Us. How does that make you feel?
For us, it felt surreal and it took us a few days to process it. Seeing what Jaden created from our original idea made us feel very proud and acknowledged at the same time!

Does news like this give you the energy to push things forward? How do you proceed with new work, what is your creative process when working on new music?
News like this pushes us immensely and give us a lot of new energy to continue working hard in the studio. We usually start our tracks with the drums and then let our creativity run free. Step by step we add more elements and try to give the track our own touch. Surrounded by idyllic landscapes, mountains and forests we find the necessary peace and space to drive our creative process further.

The process of learning to make electronic music reveals to you how little you know. That makes you increasingly aware of how much more you need to learn to get anywhere close to where you want to go. What do you think about this? How do you look up to the ever-changing technology?
Making music is a growing process for us, it feels like you are in a large dark room with just a small flashlight.

Meanwhile, we have a large collection of synths, plugins and our studio is constantly growing. We love to try out new technologies and integrate them into our working process. In the end, it’s not always the technology that decides what comes out of the speakers! You have to use your ears and your knowledge to express what you feel!

Our dream is to have the opportunity to spread our music all over the world.

Give us an insight into what we can expect from Third Person over the next few months.
We are constantly producing new tracks and soon we will send out the next demos to our favourite labels! Furthermore, another collab with our good friend Intara will be out soon on Trippy Code Records.

What is one thing that would make your musical career more successful? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
That’s a tough question! Our dream is to have the opportunity to spread our music all over the world. We don’t know where our way leads us, but we’d rather let it come to us!

Thank you.
