Seeing Visions with Klur

Klur

Swedish producer Patrik Kindvall has made a truly impressive start to his artistic career as Klur. Two years after his debut release, he has harnessed his magnificent melodic/progressive house sound into the ten tracks that make up his debut album Visions.

It’s this same sound that has garnered him a loyal following with over a million monthly listeners on Spotify, millions of streams across platforms, and DJ support from likes of Lane 8, Madeon, Tritonal, Above & Beyond and more, all whilst being recognised as the third most played artist on SiriusXM Chill in the last year.

A remix version of his debut album Visions – with reimaginings from artists like Fejka, Modera and Martin Rott – is due for release on 29 April 2023.

Thanks for talking to us today – how’s the year been treating you so far?

Thanks for having me. It’s been great. I’ve been working in the studio and planning for the upcoming year with some shows and releases to be announced.

First of all, we want to get to know you “from the beginning”. How did your history with music begin?

When I was a kid, I started playing around with music programs on our family pc. I always loved music but I didn’t have the patience to learn how to play an instrument properly. As time evolved, I started to develop an interest in electronic dance music and I kept producing until I decided to take it more seriously and release it.

Your debut album Visions came out last year – was there a particular theme or story that you wanted to convey with it?

Not really. I didn’t have a plan, I just decided to make whatever I felt like and see what came out of it and that happened throughout a year so it kinda became a calendar of music for me with different moods throughout the seasons and months.

To us the record sounds very organic and natural – did you employ any field recordings, or was it entirely synthesised sounds?

It is field recordings from my different nature walks. I have used wood sticks for percussion and outside environments as textures etc.

How important is harnessing and evoking emotion in the music you create?

For me, that’s the most important. I sort of create a relationship with the track I make and if I don’t have an emotional response to it I usually don’t finish and release the track.

What does your current studio set up look like? Lots of hardware, or are you mainly ‘out of the box’ type producers?

I mostly use Software instruments. I have a Prophet Rev2. But most of my sounds come from Diva or Serum.

What should we be looking out for from you in the next few months

Next few months I have some upcoming gigs that I will post on my socials and a few releases. The remix album will be fully released on April 28th with 9 beautiful remixes from my Album. I also have a special collaboration track with a release date in late May.

What is the best advice you have ever received as an artist?

It’s hard to choose the best advice because it’s different depending on where you are in life. But there was a period a while back when I used to make short ideas but I never finished them. So I read somewhere that you must start the habit of finishing music. It is a skill in itself. I made the decision to always finish what I started and that helped me progress a lot in that period of my career.

Thank you.
