DIRTYBIRDS STRIKE IN THE USA!!

Last Thursday, February 24th, I had the pleasure to meet Claude Von Stroke’s DIRTYBIRD in-house, two man wrecking crew, Will Clarke and Billy Kenny as well as the BANGARANG boss, Jeff Omega, at the 14,000 square foot, music temple, CODA, located in the heart of Center City Philadelphia.

As I walked in to the spacious Philadelphia hotspot I was greeted by hundreds of people and the sounds Philadelphia resident DJ and producer, the legendary, Jeff Omega. Jeff is the leader of the local art collective comprised of artists that have been sharing there work with Philadelphia and the surrounding area for years known as BANGARANG.

BANGARANG‘s SOUND CREW is a group of 13 of Philadelphia’s best djs that have been gracing the CODA stage, night in and night out, throwing their own parties (as F*CK) and opening for some of the biggest names in the music industry such as Claude Von Stroke & Claptone just to name a few. Also on the bill this night were fellow BANGARANG members Dobbee & Alex the Great who properly set the stage for an amazing night.

Omega’s deep, energetic, vocal set prepared the hungry in attendance at CODA for the headliners this fantastic evening Bristol’s (UK) own producer/DJ Will Clarke and Leeds’s (UK) finest producer/engineer/DJ superstar Billy Kenny. Now Omega can add the DIRTYBIRD tour duo to his incredible music resume.

The DIRTYBIRD sound of Will and Bill in just one word: T H U M P !

If I had to describe the sound of the DIRTYBIRD sound of Will and Bill in just one word it would be THUMP! With booming baselines and intelligent samples the DIRTYBIRD boys rocked deep into the 3 AM hour with their unique Bristol meets Ibiza sound.

They laced the audience with DIRTYBIRD’S anthems like Billy Kenny’ and Abbey Jane’s “I Operate”, Von Stroke’s “Barrump”, and Will Clarke’s banger “Can You Funk”.

I can’t wait to see the DIRTYBIRD family and the amazing BANGARANG do this again here in my city, Philadelphia.
