It’s one of the of labels we like so much: UNT Records. Based in Canada, with a label owner we admire for his fresh and open view on the music industry. Also for his keen ear in selecting new music for his label. Love the approach as they give young talents a chance! It’s why we, Tanzgemeinschaft exist as well.

Daniel Brooks aka Faded Void delivers a sublime 2-track release

Unt Records welcomes British artist Daniel Brooks, who brings two fantastic tracks under his alter ego Faded Void. It’s been told that “Our Connection” is the first part of three releases on the imprint. We’ll see if we can get a confirmation.

For some time now Faded Void has been the outlet for Daniel to release many ambient and electronic songs which show the depth and reach in his sound. Building endless soundscapes with layers of pads and instrumentation that on the face of it seems so simple, but in practice is actually something quite complex to do with the same level of execution mastered by Daniel. “Our Connection” departs from those ambient, beatless soundscapes, but brings a lot of that same feeling and approach.

The title track “Our Connection” lays the groundwork for all that will follow. With a kick that will penetrate the thickest of concrete walls and chords that sound like a train that is about to roll through space. This track brings a very Detroit style vibe. Rounded out with pads to balance everything out and connect it all together, this is a wonderfully hypnotic jam.

“Polarity” provides a similar, but more rolling feeling. The chords in this one are kept more at a distance while highlighting the use of pads, and building layers of ambient and futuristic sounds. Naturally, this airiness would invoke a feeling of pleasure and joy. But when you add in the heavy kick and layers of percussion present in this track, you then have a track that is a wonderful display of juxtaposition in music. It’s aggressive and soft, dark and light, and it all fits perfectly together.
