The “Glionna On Air” radioshow is a must-listen for electronic music lovers, showcasing his continuous exploration and deep dive into the latest musical trends, from tech house to melodic house & techno, afro house, and jackin’ house. Each set is a captivating sonic journey that transports listeners to another dimension.
Your new single “Ideal Superhero” with Skytters has just been released on AFRODICTO. How did this collaboration come about and what inspired you during the creative process?
The initial idea was to create a track with a very powerful rhythm and bassline, but also a motivational and positive message. So I sent an audio clip to Alex – Skytters and we started working on the track. Having worked together for many years, we obviously know each other well and are always very aligned on the entire creative process that leads to creating and finishing a song, so the answer is that we just do it naturally; I couldn’t explain it better.
The track blends electronic energy with strong vocal elements. How important are vocals to you when building a song?
In this track, 90% of the song is centered around the vocal and the message it conveys: “Everyone can and should be their own ideal superhero.” We started with the vocal, structured and recorded it, and the rest came later.
In general, having catchy or original vocals is always a plus because they immediately grab the listener’s attention and because, ultimately, it’s the words that stick in the head, so it’s an element we always try to incorporate into our tracks.
You’re well-known for your mash-ups. Did any of that approach find its way into “Ideal Superhero”?
The approach I bring to mashups, and which often works, is very simple: starting out as a DJ, I try to combine original mixes with great drops and breakdowns with commercial vocals that keep the dance floor engaged. Since “Ideal Superhero” is a completely original track, both elements are present; in fact, I almost always play it in all my sets.
Your music moves between Groove, Future House, and Electro: which of these worlds feels most like “home” to you, and why?
I think “Groove” without a doubt. They’ve always been the sounds that have captivated and excited me the most. My first mashups were progressive-groove, and when I play, these elements are always present. One of the artists who’ve always inspired me are Meduza, and everyone knows that Simon De Jano, in particular, made groove his trademark.
Being supported by both Italian and international DJs is a big recognition. What’s the feedback or reaction that has made you the proudest so far?
“Memories” was supported by Brooks, one of my favorite Future House artists, I remember I was very happy. The remix of Alan Walker’s “The Spectre” has gone around the world thanks to him playing it at all his shows since 2019. I don’t know how he ended up downloading a free remix of his own track on Soundcloud, but it’s incredible!
After “Ideal Superhero”, what are your next musical goals? Do you already have new projects or collaborations in the works?
Definitely continuing to make music that satisfies me first and makes me happy—that’s already not easy. My next projects are two more songs produced with Skytters, the first coming out in October on “Actuation,” the second in November on “Perfect Havoc,” and we hope people will like them!
Thank you!
