Infectious! Nicolas Meyer – Golconda
Our good friends from the Barcelona-based record label, sinnmusik*, keep dropping sublime releases at a regular pace. We’d love to review all of them but time is an annoying limit. So please head over to their Soundcloud profile and follow them in order to stay in the know.
This time it’s Swiss-born Nicolas Meyer that had something cooking. His EP ‘Golconda’ is ready for the summer! ‘Golconda’ is due May 1st, so stay tuned because the package of this young talent contains no less than 4 original cuts topped with the same amount of remixes.
Nicolas, also label owner of Kaleido Muzik, sure did define his own style. With a great passion for analog and digital instruments, he knows how to approach his own productions and even live performances. So sit back and be amazed by this pack of warm house grooves and remix treatments.
The title track is a deep & playful house joint that is surefire mood lighting for a great set. Vocal samples and a phat bassline make this an absolute killer. But hold your horses, there is more. Much more.
UK-based Danvers seems like playing his bass guitar on his positive, soulful and emotive version the original. James Benedict, no stranger on the label, pushes the pedal and speeds up the vibe to deliver a genuine dancefloor punch. The other regular on sinnmusik*’s roster, Georgi Barrel, bends the original groove into his own very style with war stabs but keeps the rolling bassline of the original. Bristol-based Jamie Morrison aka J.Morrison keeps the bass in his stripped down version and keeps it vivacious in his own personal style. Great idea of the label to foresee this many fantastic edits. These will last a summer long.
But … we’re not near the end yet. There are still 3 more originals on Nicolas Meyer’s ‘Golconda’. One is called ‘Better than always’ and is a true melancholic house shaker with its sultry groove. ‘Milel raggi’ is funky groove machine. This one is a real floor shuffler. And last but lost we get the disco-ish ‘Planet Delú’ making you swing till you drop.
