Brilliant rolling grooves on Stephen Macias’ What I Am

With influences in reggae, dub and electronic music, this producer from Marseille really found his way around since he started in 2011. Stephen Macias seems to be putting a lot of effort in his music as he has quite nice releases up his sleeve, out various labels like Rusted, Deeperfect, Panterre Musique or Kinetika Records.

His next release will be on the superb tech-house label, Antura Records. Fresh brilliant rolling grooves. The EP is called ‘What I am’ and is packed with one sublime original and remixes from Mario da Ragnio and label boss Ben Teufel.

What I am

‘What I am’ contains a really nice rolling groove guaranteeing some dance floor shufflin’. There is a big room techno sound in the background that gives this track some great cachet. The vocals tell a story which makes this track even more wicked.

Ben Teufel keeps the core of the original but adds another dynamic with a distorted house vibe. Albeit it’s a reduced and functional dancefloor exercise that relies on minimal elements, hypnotic pads & rhythmic arrangements. Boom! Mario da Ragnio’s tech-house journey continues where the others left off. More uptempo, different percussion and sliced up vocals turning it into a stark techno growler.
