Voodoo Village introduces The Oracle. A stage for mind and wellbeing.

Voodoo Village festival minds balance & mental wellbeing via the Oracle

The pandemic may have more or less passed its peak, but the quarantine has taken a heavy toll on young people in particular. On the one hand, the long isolation itself weighs heavily on the young mind. On the other hand, it has also resulted in the now familiar urge to bang, throwing off all the brakes – and sometimes too many – now that it is allowed and possible again.

That is why Voodoo Village festival is putting a lot of effort into the mental well-being of the public this year and is implementing a new zone for the purpose: The Oracle.

On 10 and 11 September, the sixth edition of Voodoo Village will take place in Grimbergen, at ‘s Gravenkasteel: a festival in which “experience” and well-being have always taken priority.

Completely new to Voodoo Village this year, however, is a zone that focuses purely on balance and mental well-being. The Oracle covers around 150 square metres, between the main entrance and the moat around the castle, and is intended to be a place where people can relax and find themselves again, away from the festival stimuli. A place that is a cross between experience, mental well-being and social feeling.

In concrete terms, The Oracle will consist of a central stage, around which a number of “cuddle spaces” will be arranged with soft cushions. There will be yoga sessions, sound healing, mindfulness, breathing exercises and kizomba dance sessions.

We notice that many people around us after the corona era are working on self-development and discovering their own values. That’s why we want to provide a platform where people can be together. Both on a rational and spiritual level.

The Oracle

At The Oracle, group sessions are organised that bring people spiritually closer together and the participants into peace. Cato Vermeulen (Catcaitlinn) will host tantra workshops whereas Journey of Yoga will organise yoga sessions and sound healings (to the music of La Nuyt). Ben Crawley will present breathing and meditation exercises and blockchain adept Elene Vernijns will talk about cryptocurrency, which will also be accepted as a means of payment at Voodoo Village, by the way.

Fonto de Sono/Pieter De Wilde works as a musician for the organisation musIC of founder Willem Wittenberg. As a duo, they provide musical interventions for bedside patients in intensive care units (at the UZ in Ghent and the Military Hospital in Brussels). However, the sound journey under the name Fonto de Sono that Pieter brings to Voodoo Village is a somewhat different musical experience than in the hospital. With different instruments and sound makers, Pieter invites the audience on a real sound journey. An auditory experience that stimulates the mind and calms the listener.

In addition to joint activities, visitors to The Oracle can also enjoy individual sessions. In one of the cuddle rooms, Ninalotte Roose will receive visitors for 1-on-1 conversations and guide them. Osteopath Pieter Argeerts will be available during the festival for manual therapy, Charlotte van de Ven for tarot and crystal healings and Xander De Bouw (The Basement) will receive visitors in his private tent for individual guidance.

Transport and hotels

In order to experience the festival in a zen and carefree way, Voodoo Village offers a variety of transport and accommodation arrangements. Festival buses will be provided to and from Antwerp, Bruges, Brussels, Ghent, Hasselt, Leuven and Mechelen.

With Get Driven, you will be driven to and/or from the festival in your own car in complete safety and a deal with Taxi Verts ensures that you save 5 euros on your trip to and/or from the festival.

If you come in your own car and prefer to drive yourself, you can save on parking costs by booking a space in advance. It is even smarter and cheaper to come by bike because then you can park for free near the entrance.

Those who prefer a more adventurous approach can also take the boat from Brussels (Tour & Taxis) to the festival.

Visitors with a weekend ticket or hungover types who want to be pampered can stay at the Van der Valk Brussels Airport or Crowne Plaza Brussels Airport hotel, with which Voodoo Village has a deal for rooms at a reduced rate and including shuttles to and from the festival site.
