Bebbo Interview: From Guatemala to Puro House

From the vibrant culture of Guatemala to releases on labels including Stereo Productions, AMA Music, AXEPT, and Manifest Records, Bebbo has spent years refining a sound that is unmistakably his own. Blending infectious grooves, uplifting melodies, and the rhythmic energy of his Latin roots, his productions are built with one purpose in mind: getting people moving.

In this conversation, Bebbo reflects on the long road to finding his musical identity, the influence of film scoring on his productions, unforgettable moments behind the decks, and why house music continues to connect people across borders. With his latest release, Puro House, now out on Manifest Records, the Guatemalan producer is entering an exciting new chapter, and it’s only the beginning.

Hey Bebbo, great to meet you!! How’s it all with you right now?

Hello!! Great to meet you too! Everything is great, really excited for this!

For people discovering your music for the first time, how would you describe the “Bebbo sound”?

Finding my sound has been a long journey, jumping around many different genres. Today, my sound is a mix of all of them. I try to always have good energy, good melodies and strong grooves in my music. I like to make people dance. You grew up in Guatemala. How has your background influenced your music and creative identity?

As I mentioned before, a strong groove has always been part of my music, and this has been strongly influenced by my Guatemalan and Latin roots. We Guatemalans are very energetic and happy people, and this definitely reflects in my music.

What first made you fall in love with electronic music, and who were your earliest inspirations?

Since I was very young in school, I would listen to dance music. I think my earliest inspiration was “Dj Mangoo”; I would listen to his song “Eurodancer” basically all day long.

When you start a new track, does it usually begin with a melody, a groove, or an emotion?

I try to start my projects playing around with drums, grooves or melodies. Build a really cool breakdown and drop, complete it as much as possible, and then deconstruct it until I get to the intro.

Your productions often feel cinematic. Do you picture scenes or stories while you’re producing?

Yes, I definitely do. In fact, I studied film scoring, and when I started, I wanted to make short films inspired by my music. One day I will definitely do it.

What’s one track you’ve released that means the most to you, and why?

All my tracks have something special that I feel connected to. If I had to choose one, it would have to be “Reflections” because it was my first track I signed on a bigger label (Stereo Productions), and it got attention from some big artists like “Rufus Du Sol” and “Hot Since 82”, so it opened a lot of doors.

What’s been the most unforgettable moment you’ve experienced behind the decks?

Every set is a journey that has its own story to tell afterwards, but I will never forget the night I played in one of the biggest festivals in Central America called EMF. I got too close unexpectedly before Sasha in front of thousands of people. That was the first time I really felt in control and had a total connection with the crowd. It’s a set that still gives me goosebumps today when I remember it.

You’ve had a run of releases across different labels recently, like AMA Music, AXEPT, and now on Manifest Records. Is there a common thread connecting them creatively?

Yes, of course, I have now found my sound that really reflects my personality on every production. Positive vibes, high energy and danceable grooves.

What’s one artist everyone should be listening to right now?

Well, I would obviously say Bebbo hahaha! But I really like what artists like Prospa and Cloonee are doing. Although I think house music never left, it feels like house music is making a strong comeback. People want to dance and have a good time!

If you weren’t making music, what do you think you’d be doing?

Music has been present in my life since I can remember. I was part of an orchestra and rock band when I was very young, so the thought of being an artist has always been present. If I really had to do something different from music, I would probably be making art or acting in movies. Definitely in some type of creative profession.

What’s the biggest goal you’re still chasing?

I think my main goal has always been and always will be the same. Try to share my music with as many people as I can. Music is more than just entertainment for me. It’s a lifestyle, and the connection music makes between people is something that I love.

Finally, what can fans expect from Bebbo over the next 12 months?

Definitely a lot of music. Since January, I haven’t been DJing as much as I did the last couple of years because I have been focusing on making music. I really feel confident that what I have programmed to release in the next year will grow my audience and help me connect with a lot more people.

Thank you for the interview. I really enjoy sharing my journey and point of view on music. Hope everyone who listens to “Puro House” enjoys it as much as I did making it!
