Moeaike are part of a generation of artists redefining what dance music can feel like on an emotional level. Rooted firmly in the dancefloor yet unafraid of subtlety, their sound moves between groove, melody and organic texture in a way that feels instinctive rather than constructed. It’s music designed for movement, but also for moments of introspection: the kind that lingers long after the night has ended.
Over the past years, Roberto and Gaetano have allowed Moeaike to evolve naturally, stepping away from external references and trusting their shared intuition. That approach has led to a sonic identity that audiences increasingly recognise without needing a name attached, and to tracks like “Lift Me High,” which have already found a strong connection with dancefloors around the world ahead of release. Between intense touring schedules and time spent in the studio, their journey reflects a careful balance between momentum and reflection.
In this conversation with Tanzgemeinschaft, we speak with Moeaike about finding artistic clarity, protecting creativity during busy periods, and the role travel, collaboration and emotional honesty play in shaping their music — as well as what they hope people carry with them after sharing a moment together on the dancefloor.
Dear Roberto and Gaetano, thank you very much for taking the time to talk with us here at Tanzgemeinschaft. How are you both today?
We’re doing well, thank you. It’s been quite an intense period between touring and new music, but we’re happy and trying to enjoy the journey step by step.
Your sound sits between melodic structure and organic movement. How intentional is that relationship in your creative process?
It happens quite naturally. We often start from the groove, because the dancefloor is always the foundation, and then we build the emotional and melodic elements on top. We’re always looking for a balance between energy and feeling without forcing things.
Looking back, was there a moment when Moeaike started to feel like a clear artistic identity rather than an experiment?
Yes, when we stopped following external references and started trusting our instincts more. When people began recognizing our sound on the dancefloor without knowing who produced the track, we understood the project had found its identity.
“Lift Me High” has already been widely recognised ahead of its release. How do you emotionally detach from a track that has lived with you for so long?
It’s never easy because some tracks stay with you for a long time before they are released. But once you start playing them around the world and see people connecting with them, the track no longer belongs only to you. At that point, letting it go becomes natural.
Do you feel pressure when a track gains attention before it’s released, or does it give you confidence in your instincts?
A bit of both, but mostly it gives us confidence. When a track works with very different crowds, you understand you’re moving in the right direction.
Beyond individual tracks, what themes or ideas are currently shaping your music?
We’re focusing more and more on creating music that connects groove and emotion, something that works in the club but also leaves a feeling after listening. We enjoy exploring organic atmospheres and sounds that don’t belong to a specific trend.
You’ve played across very different cities and cultures. How does that diversity reflect in your sound, if at all?
Traveling shows us how differently people experience music, and that influences us a lot. Every place leaves a different feeling with us, and all those energies naturally come back into the studio. In a way, every journey and every dancefloor becomes part of our music.
How do you protect creativity during periods of intense touring or momentum?
We try to slow down whenever possible. Taking small breaks, going back into the studio without pressure and reconnecting with normal life helps keep creativity fresh.
What role does collaboration play in keeping your perspective fresh?
Collaboration is important because it brings different ways of thinking and creating music. That exchange always helps open new perspectives and directions.
Finally, what do you hope people understand about Moeaike beyond the music itself?
That behind the music there are real people putting emotions and heart into what they do. We hope people feel a sincere connection and carry home a positive feeling after sharing a moment with us on the dancefloor.
