Chus & Ceballos on ‘Somos Uno’ and the Importance of Connection

After more than two decades shaping the sound of underground electronic music, Chus & Ceballos are entering a new chapter together. Following a five-year period exploring separate paths, the iconic Spanish duo reunited with renewed energy, bringing their unmistakable blend of Latin rhythms, deep grooves, and emotionally charged house music back to dance floors around the world.

Their new single Somos Uno (“We Are One”) feels like more than just a release — it’s a statement of unity, reflecting the shared experiences, cultures, and connections that have defined their journey. From their early days pioneering Iberican sounds to inspiring generations of DJs and producers, Chus & Ceballos have always championed the idea that music can transcend borders and bring people together.

With their Reunion Tour reconnecting them with longtime fans while introducing their sound to a new generation, we sat down with the duo to discuss the meaning behind Somos Uno, the evolving landscape of club culture, their passion for cultural exchange, and what lies ahead for one of electronic music’s most enduring partnerships.

Hi guys, thanks for taking the time to chat with us here at Tanzgemeinschaft! How are you both today?

We’re doing great, thanks for having us. It’s been an exciting few months with the Reunion Tour and now the release of Somos Uno. There’s a real sense of momentum around the project, and we’re genuinely enjoying being back in the studio and on the road together.

The title of your new single Somos Uno carries a message of togetherness. Why did that feel like the right statement to make as you begin this new chapter together?

Because this project is about much more than two artists working together again. Somos Uno reflects everything we’ve experienced throughout our careers, traveling the world, meeting different cultures, and witnessing how music connects people regardless of language or background.

After spending five years pursuing separate paths, reuniting naturally led us to reflect on what has always united us, both as artists and as human beings. The title became a simple but powerful way of expressing that idea. It’s a reminder that despite our differences, rhythm has an incredible ability to bring people onto the same wavelength.

Dance floors bring together people from every background. Do you think club culture still offers something unique that other spaces can’t?

Without a doubt. Club culture creates a rare kind of equality. Once the music takes over, everything else becomes secondary. It doesn’t matter where you’re from, what language you speak, or what your story is; everyone shares the same moment.

We’ve been fortunate enough to experience that in every corner of the world, and it’s one of the reasons we’ve stayed passionate about electronic music for so long. A great dancefloor isn’t just about entertainment; it’s about collective energy, empathy and freedom. Those experiences stay with people long after the music stops.

Throughout your career you’ve connected Latin musical traditions with underground electronic music. Why has that cultural exchange always been so important to your work?

Because that’s who we are. We never approached Latin percussion or organic rhythms as something exotic to add to a production; they’ve always been part of our musical identity.

Electronic music has this incredible ability to absorb influences from every culture while creating something entirely new. That dialogue between tradition and innovation has fascinated us from the very beginning. We believe the strongest records are often the ones that feel rooted in something authentic while still looking towards the future.

The Reunion Tour has taken you around the world. Have there been any moments with fans that reminded you why this partnership means so much to people?

Many. One of the most emotional things has been meeting people who tell us they’ve been waiting years to see us perform together again. Some discovered our music in the early 2000s and have followed the journey ever since.

At the same time, we’ve met younger clubbers experiencing Chus & Ceballos for the very first time. Seeing those two generations sharing the same dancefloor has been incredibly special. It reminds us that music can create connections across time and across cultures.

Electronic music is constantly changing, but community has always been at its heart. What gives you the most optimism about the scene today?

The openness. Today’s artists aren’t afraid to blend genres, cultures and influences in ways that simply didn’t exist twenty years ago. There’s a real curiosity to explore beyond traditional boundaries.

What also gives us hope is that audiences are becoming more open-minded. People aren’t just looking for a trend; they’re looking for experiences and authenticity. We think that’s healthy for the future of electronic music because it encourages artists to develop their own voice instead of chasing algorithms or short-lived hype.

You’ve inspired several generations of DJs and producers. Do you ever think about your influence, or are you always focused on what’s still to come?

It’s something we appreciate enormously whenever someone mentions it, but it’s not something we think about while making music. If you become too focused on your legacy, you risk becoming disconnected from the present.

We’ve always preferred to stay curious. Every new track, every new DJ set, and every new collaboration is another opportunity to learn something. That mindset has probably been one of the biggest reasons we’ve managed to stay creatively inspired for so many years.

If someone discovers Chus & Ceballos through Somos Uno, what do you hope they understand about who you are as artists?

We hope they hear honesty before anything else. Our music has never been about following formulas. It’s always been driven by rhythm, emotion and the desire to create a genuine connection with people.

Somos Uno also represents something we deeply believe in: that electronic music can be both powerful and meaningful. You can lose yourself in the groove while still carrying home a message that resonates beyond the dancefloor.

Looking beyond this release, what excites you most about building the next chapter of Chus & Ceballos together?

The feeling that we’re starting with a blank canvas again. We have the benefit of decades of experience, but we’re approaching this chapter with the curiosity of new artists.

The Reunion Tour reminded us why we began this journey in the first place, and now the studio feels full of possibilities. There are new records, new collaborations, and new ideas already taking shape, but more importantly, there’s a renewed sense of purpose. We’re not interested in recreating the past; we’re focused on writing the strongest chapter of our story yet.
