Yiouri, can you tell our readers where you are from?
I was born in the beautiful city of Lviv, which is located in Ukraine. But when I was a child, my family and I moved to Greece, Crete. Where I live and work until today. I’m a happy person because I live near the Mediterranean Sea. What else can a man want.

How does the local scene look like?
Ok, the local music scene in Crete is fairly small. I feel that house music is something fresh and new. Good thing is that I see more and more younger people getting involved. On the other hand every summer many people from all over world come here to party until sunrise. During summer, some of the popular producers and DJs come to the island and play in the different clubs. Which is very nice of course.

What do you find inspirational about where you’re living?
Hard to pick just one thing. I find inspiration in music mostly but there are some other sources as well like people, food, friends, weather etc. . Sometimes it happens that I play music until next morning and I see the sun rise over the sea. Magnificent feeling that is. Even when tired it makes me happy to see happy people on the dance floor. That’s the moment I feel that I am doing the thing I love the most in this life.

Tell us the story of how you were introduced to house music. Was there a specific moment you realized that you wanted to be on the other side of the dance party – as the DJ?
I discovered club music at the time when as a teenager. I went to the one of the most popular clubs in the city where I grew up. What I felt and what I heard changed my life forever and gave the push to develop in the music industry.

When I was 19 years old I became a resident of Matrix Club in my hometown of Chersoniso. And in this club I was able to work with dj’s like Carl Cox, Afrojack, Hernan Catteneo, Hardwell and others. Thanks to them I understood what “quality” in music and party means.

What are currently your main challenges as a DJ?
The main challenge for me as a DJ is to show people my music and demonstrate that mainstream music is not the only music out there. There is so much more than top 40 radio hits. I believe that everyone can play only hits like these. This is the easy way. The main challenge for any DJ is to introduce new styles of music to the people on the dance floor. So much nicer to mix in great new tracks almost nobody heard of.

Music has the ability to influence our emotions. And when you understand this fact it’s like a super power for you. Because you can control the emotions and imaginations of people on dance floor.

Name 1 or 2 tracks you often use in your sets that gets the dance floor moving every time.
Gregory Porter – Liquid Spirit (Claptone Remix)

Veerus &Maxie Devine- The Peacemaker (Original Mix)

Describe yourself in 3 words.
Energetic, Organized and Perfectionist

When the world is about to end in 15 mins when you are playing, what would be your last record you’ll play?
I have many favorite tracks indifferent genres so I think I would mix them all in these 15 min and the final one would be Axwell & Dirty South – Open Your Heart (Original Mix). For me this is the best track in a situation like this.

It matters little whether you are an artist or a visitor, the love for music is the unifying factor.
