Pedro Aviles returns to Tanzgemeinschaft with Shimmerdream, a synth-heavy Melodic Techno track that knows exactly where its weight needs to sit.
The foundation is deep. A strong sub-bass holds the track firmly in place, leaving Aviles plenty of room to work with the brighter side of the production. Synth lines gradually become more prominent, repeating, opening up and pushing the track forward without taking away from the groove underneath.
That contrast is one of Shimmerdream’s strongest qualities. There’s warmth in the low end, while the synths provide the colour and tension above it.
Pedro Aviles doesn’t rush towards the payoff either. Across almost six minutes, the arrangement repeatedly rises and pulls back, introducing its ideas gradually before heading towards its final peak. It gives DJs time to work with the track rather than forcing the energy too early.
The result is a track with enough weight for a club system but plenty happening above the bassline to give it its own identity.
With Shimmerdream, Pedro Aviles delivers another strong piece of Melodic Techno for Tanzgemeinschaft: deep at its foundation, synth-heavy at its core, and patient in its progression.
Enjoy the music.
