Premiere: Alfred Heinrichs – Dreamcatcher (Simina Grigoriu Remix)

East Berliner Alfred Heinrichs brings his flair for melodic techno to Kuukou with two robust techno pieces, joined by label head Simina Grigoriu and mysterious techno duo The YellowHeads on remix duties.

Dreamcatcher

Dreamcatcher shows off a lighter side of the Techno spectrum, albeit equally commanding in its bass prowess. Gleaming synths make for an inviting intro, swiftly followed by an array of assertive drums that takes hold of the lead. The end result is a oneiric exploration that embodies both light and dark soundscapes. Simina Grigoriu takes on Dreamcatcher, channelling its darker side, adding oomph with extra crepuscular vocals in an overtly tenebrous atmosphere.

Mini Me

Mini Me, the opening track, kicks off gradually, simmering into a full speed Techno smasher, with a spellbinding kick drum and a straightforward bassline. Heinrichs’s penchant for melodicity shows off shortly, as the melody uncovers itself as playful and sonorous, ridden with glistening arpeggiated synths. It’s a full-on dancefloor weapon, with highly enticing dark bass elements.

Meanwhile, The YellowHeads centre their remix around arpeggiated synth arrays, with an emphasis on the deep, dark corners of the Techno spectrum. We’re greeted with hard hitting drums, an upbeat bassline and murky accents, all under the reign of a threatening vocal and overall cloudy ambience, perfect for a late night floor filler.
