TGMS Future Stars #53: Taaris

Taaris is a French Techno Progressive DJ since 2016 and started to learn to produce electronic music in 2017 by herself. At the age of 14, she learned to play electric guitar on her own and met the famous band « Trust ».
Often, she hangouts with Namek family, a psytrance event organization. This allowed her to perform in a renowned club in France such as L’Ostra club or L’Envers club.

Besides, Taaris was inspired by the concept of “Cercle” and makes DJing videos with beautiful landscapes on her YouTube channel. Recently, she started sharing Progressive Techno, Deep Tech and Ethnic Deep House from talented DJs around the world. The concept is only to share quality music.

Taaris usually podcast her set on Radio, Soundcloud or Mixcloud channels across the world. An invitation to the mental Taaris journey. The portrait of Taaris undoubtedly gives great desires for escapes to a flora of femininity.

What can we expect from the mix you made us?
A mental journey where rhythms tell us a story. It’s like a ride where you take the first flight taking off, no matter where. All you have to do is lift both hands and let your mind travel.

Why did you want to be a DJ/producer?
Becoming a DJ is more than a challenge. I think, if you want to create a new musical world, there is a challenge here. I wish to participate in new musical creations, I have always maintained deep links with music. It’s an addiction, it has all my heart and my soul. In this sense, all my musical experiences are fascinating to me.

What excites you the most as being a DJ/producer?
Being a DJ Producer is a pretty difficult thing, it requires a method and a lot of thought. By thinking about it, I realize that many young people do not understand it and do not realize organization behind a track. I myself reconsidered this idea when I started to learn sound engineering on my own. I started creating sounds, but it was a sort of training. I feel a responsibility when I produce. For now, I continue to conceive and when there will be a sufficiently qualitative track then I will publish it.

Where does your passion for electronic music come from?
Very young I gradually became aware of the universality and harmony that music could provide. First I took a guitar that I scratched, again and again, until learning to play. It was a real liberation for me. I listened to Rock, coming from left and right, in all its forms. The music is framed, standardized by humans and must refer only to itself.

I also learn the piano alone. The electronic revelation was when I had to leave France for 2 months to go to Vancouver (Canada) in 2016 in a music store for my studies. My first Canadian night was at the Celebrities Club, there was Hot Since 82. It was magical. I discovered new influences and this is where the guitar swapped for turntables at the age of 19. Tech House has been an initiator for my interest in Techno.

What kind of music did you listen to growing up, and does it have any influence on your current sound? If not, what or who are your inspirations?
Sincerely, I am a bit torn by multi-form cultural heritage. When I was a teenager I used to listen to Indie Rock Folk, Pop Rock and Metal. I have to say that Metal doesn’t affect me now … but sometimes I can find that kind of Indie Folk Rock or Pop voice in my « break » track.

I am constantly influenced. I mean, I always try to experiment with new things. My style evolves over time. I can not stand to have a linear mix without an emotional lift.

I enjoy ethnic moods such as orientals sounds, shamanic Amazonians atmospheres, mystic and spiritual mind, psytrance, psychedelic rock and deeper things.

I am inspired by visual arts such as futuristic architecture, geometrics and psychedelics things, every kind of “visionary art”. To me, the sound must be one with space, it must stimulate all the senses.

How would you describe your sound and style?
I always describe my music as Progressive Techno even if I always make links between different types of genre. Progressive Techno is the sound I like the most. Energetics rhythms, busy catchy things and also deep feelings. Trying to keep the shamanism spiritual mind.
