TGMS Future Stars #86: Omar Baccouri

The longtime admirer of underground music, Omar believes in creating harmonic, soft & melodic soundscapes merging together to create twisted and electrifying sets. Featured on Podcasts and Radio shows across Europe and the states, he’s always immersed in different musical genres. Omar’s sets are all about versatility, through music, he shares passion and pleasure trying to connect with people through his mixes. Since moving to Uppsala, Sweden, he’s been involved in the local underground scene by establishing an underground collective “Techno Taco Disco Club” along with some friends, in addition to making his debut for the Placebo group.

Where are you from and what do you find inspirational about where you’re living?
Tunisia born and raised, currently living in Sweden. The place is versatile giving opportunities to discover and be exposed to different cultures and perspectives

Where does your passion for electronic music come from?
Been passionate about electronic music since early adulthood, starting with trance music, influenced by the likes of Armin van Buuren and Above & Beyond. Then started discovering new horizons from techno to house.

How has your music been influenced by other artists, musicians, or life in general?
Always seeking new journeys, I am constantly looking for new sounds and discover hidden gems. My life has always been about change and adventure, that’s why I like to incorporate distinct sounds in my sets and mixes

How do you see your future within the electronic music scene?
Looking forward to seeing what the future holds, for now, I am trying to enjoy what I do and have pleasure while giving pleasure.

What can we expect from the mix you made us?
A beautiful and exciting journey through the vaults of underground music.

Any news to share regarding upcoming work or gigs?
Alongside our established party concept “Techno Taco Disco Club”, I’ll soon appear on Deep House Islamabad and K. Kjergaard’s beach Podcast. I am taking part in Flexanima/Smedjan Festival and expected to play at Valborg Uppsala as well, in May and April respectively.
