DJ Spen, one of the defining architects of Gospel House Music, is preparing to release his new full‑length artist album, ‘The Praise Party’, on Quantize Recordings. The project arrives as the latest chapter in a career that spans more than four decades, during which Spen has become a globally respected DJ, producer, remixer and co‑founder of Quantize Recordings. From his beginnings with The Numarx and his influential work with the Basement Boys, to shaping soulful house through Jasper Street Company, Code Red Recordings and The MuthaFunkaz, he has long been recognised as one of the most impactful figures in house music worldwide.
The album’s story began during the pandemic, when Spen’s wife Kelly encouraged him to “go live and bring hope to people”. That moment sparked the weekly Sunday ‘Praise Party’ livestream, which grew into a worldwide online family united by music, faith and Spen’s uplifting gospel house edits. Six years later, that community still gathers, and ‘The Praise Party’ album now carries their spirit forward. A true labour of love, the album features fifteen songs built around joyful group vocals, powerful solo performances and the energetic Gospel grooves that have become part of Spen’s signature sound.

The project brings together a standout cast of vocalists including Barbara Tucker, Dawn Tallman, Angelica de No, Inaya Day, Richard Burton, Tasha LaRae, Dr. David Anderson, Robin S, Randy Roberts, Vonita White, Marylin and Cleveland P. Jones. Spen also collaborates with producers Kelly G, David Harness, Jeff Straw, Thommy Davis, Kasper Burnstein and Gary Hudgins. The writing team includes Kelly Spencer, who penned the single, ‘When I Needed You Most’, alongside Eric Roberson, Richard Smallwood, Kelly G, Walter Hawkins and others. With more than 700 releases across the Quantize label family, Spen continues to define and elevate the sound of soulful house music, and ‘The Praise Party’ stands as a celebration of exactly that.
