Galø drops a banging remix on Mind Control

From the very beginning of his journey into electronic music, GALØ has been drawn to melodic, dark, and immersive sounds. His passion for music is evident in every set, through his perception and thoughtful approach to track selection.

His intuition and vision when crafting his sets are almost ritualistic—each track chosen carries its own emotion and sensation, carefully woven together to create a musical journey that immerses the listener in a captivating atmosphere. His sets progress with purpose, building energy that leads to an intense groove by the end.

Galø will be collaborating with Shemsu and Steel Tone on Mind Control and take credit for an amazing remix. The release will be out on June 27 via Tanzgemeinschaft Records. Check out what he had to say in the interview below.

How did you approach the remix of Shemsu and Steel Tone? What was the first idea or feeling you wanted to capture?

The first idea I always try to capture when starting a remix—after listening to it several times—is to connect with the darker sounds I can feel and that bring me closer to what I want to achieve with my version. Then I focus on the vocal parts that resonate with me.

From that base, I begin the project, always searching for the sounds I consider fundamental to preserve the essence of the original.

When you heard the original track, what impacted you most and inspired your creative direction for the remix?

What impacted me most were the dark melodies and the captivating atmosphere that holds throughout the track, along with the vocals that accompanied this hypnotic journey. It led me to amplify the power and intensity of the bassline and bring more versatility to different sections of the track, adding movement and rhythmic changes.

Do you usually have a clear concept for the remix from the start, or do you let the process unfold more intuitively?

Yes, after spending several hours listening to the original, I always develop a clear concept of where I want to take my version. I tend to maintain a sense of darkness in every sound and preserve that hypnotic atmosphere that carries the sonic journey, always supported by the groove that defines my style.

Which elements of the original track did you feel were essential to keep, and where did you feel free to push boundaries?

The vocals were essential—they’re a core piece of the track. I also kept parts of the main melody and some arpeggios. With those as anchors, I began layering my signature sounds to add my personal touch to the track.

How does this remix reflect the Galø signature sound? Did you experiment with new techniques or ideas?

This remix pushed me to experiment with new sounds and techniques. One example is using parts of the vocals to create a vocal chop for greater impact. I also added one of my signature techniques—layering vocal elements with repeating stabs, especially during the drop—to create explosive impact after the breakdown. It’s a trademark of mine that helps shape a key moment in the track.

As a remixer, how do you find a balance between honouring the original and making the track unmistakably yours?

From my experience, the key is to maintain part of the main melody—whether using the original sound or recreating it with my own. I often write MIDI parts using sounds I love to deepen the atmosphere, making it darker while still anchored to the original. I also incorporate synths from the original that I liked and respond to them with my own effects, stabs, and signature synths, crafting a blend that reflects my style.

Is there a specific emotion or vibe you hope listeners will take away from your version?

I always aim to create an entrancing and hypnotic vibe. Through the track’s versatility, I want listeners to feel like they’re on a sonic journey—one that lifts off and eventually hits with intensity through a heavy bassline, vocal chops, and the stabs that bring in that explosive groove that defines each of my productions.

What’s next for you after this release—more remixes, original productions, or something else exciting?
Lately, I’ve been focused on remixes, which I truly enjoy. With several of those now completed, I’ve started working on original productions to further shape and refine the sound I want to achieve.

Thank you!
