Born in 1999 Filipe Dias (LEEP) has been motivated and inspired since a young age. LEEP is currently one of the best up and coming and passionate young DJs on the South African music horizon. He discovered the art of DJing at the tender age of 10 and has been driven ever since.

Hey Filipe, where are you based and what makes that place special for you?
I am from Johannesburg Gauteng, South Africa

What makes it special is that every artist is unique and is trying to better and spread the love for music in their own way.

There is a real passion for music on this side. The only downside is that we as an artist need to help each other out more than they do overseas.

Where my sound and passion has come from and how it has been influenced?
My musical life and passion over the past few years have come from and been influenced by artists such as:
Recondite, Solomun, Maceo Plex and Tale of us to name a few.

Their scene and sound has driven me into a direction that I’ve stuck to and bettered as well as tried to master over the past few years, even though I am still learning all the time I’m glad to say that I am also very diverse in regards to what vibe I can play.

What excites me the most about being an artist?
What excites me the most about being an artist is that I hold the key and it’s up to me, I am the person who can curate that journey for the listeners that won’t be forgotten for a very long time. After all, it’s all about the music and that is why I’m so happy with what I do and why I do it 🙂

How would you describe your sound and style?
I would describe my sound story as something crafted from pure passion, appreciation for all music and overall uniqueness for style and selection. For me, it’s all about doing it for the love of the music. From a young age, I grew up listening to a lot of music and fell in love with all kinds of genres. At the age of 10, I started messing around with djing apps which lead to playing at school socials and house parties. That’s where I found my passion for music and I made that my happy place, since then I haven’t looked back!

I enjoy all types of music but my love lies in African house and Techno. I go about my work quietly without any fuss but when put behind the decks I definitely know how to express myself and speak to the crowd through my music. My mature sense of selection and style leaves a huge impact on the crowd during and after my performances.

What can we expect from this mix?
With this mix, I decided to keep it simple and stick to my sound and what I’m known for. It is a tight flowing selection made up of melodic and vibey techno, I hope the mix can speak for itself.
