TGMS Future Stars #22: Dimitry

Dimitry drops a mix for the TGMS Future Stars series

Next up in our already great looking TGMS Future Stars series is a talent hailing from Montreal. His journey started about 5 years ago.

Being inspired by the biggest names out there, Dimitry’s sound was slowly shaped by the groove presented by artists such as Ricardo Villalobos, The Martinez Brothers, Apollonia. House music is a very essential part in how Dimitry came to define his style and how he came to play today, establishing his talent by playing in Montreal premier underground clubs such as Velvet, Le Salon Daome, Stereobar and more.

This mix is a perfect representation of what Dimitry likes, what he plays at the clubs & what he thinks you should be listening to!

Where are you from?
I’m originally from Lebanon, born in Saudi Arabia where a spent my early childhood for 10 years. Then moved to Montreal.

Where do you find inspiration about where you are living?
Montreal is full of inspiration, the people you meet, the music you hear, the community that exists. Everything plays a small role when it comes to my inspiration. The biggest inspiration that many DJs share in this city is Stereo Montreal, voted the best nightclub in North America in 2017 and arguably one of the best sound systems out there. Being able to play in that system really distinguishes DJs and truly shows one’s skills behind the decks. This is why the city has great standards when distinguishing “good artist” and “bad artist”.

Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
I see myself running my record label with a few colleagues.

How do you describe your sound and style?
My sound was shaped by many artists that came through Stereo Montreal, names such as Ricardo Villalobos, Apollonia, Martin Buttrich, John Digweed. All these big names have shaped my style of mixing, the tracks that I play and how I play them. I learned three main things from all these big artist, patience, groove and accuracy.

What can we expect from your mix?
I wanted this mix to channel the summer vibes that we have all been waiting for. Happy, groovy, simple, continuous.

What is your afavouritefavorite track of the moment?
