Chris Flowers, caretaker of funky tech house beats

Chris Flowers is producing tech house and techno since 2014. He founded his label “Eckbank Records” in 2014, releases on it as the main artist and is also doing the A&R. In 2016 he moved to Berlin. The Techno city of Germany influenced his style and he has bigger releases ever since. (Ton Liebt Klang / Check In Recordings / Tretmuehle). Since the beginning of 2017, he is FDF (freedownloadfriday/SoundCloud) SOM resident DJ. Also he is resident DJ for the podcast series of Südstadt Beats Berlin.

Where does Chris Flowers come from?
Berlin, Germany

Tell us about what makes your area special and how nightlife looks like.
Berlin is the capital city of techno and tech house. The nightlife is almost 27/7 and you can hear the city vibes that influence my mixes.

What have been the main influences that got you started with electronic music?
Working with a friend in the studio for some rock music projects set me on fire for more working in the studio. After some time I bought some home studio gear myself to create some own tracks. Because of some friends, close to other DJs I discovered what I wanted to do with my music. It is tech house.

What skills/personal attributes are most important to be successful?
I think you should have an own style. Don´t change your style for others, don´t just play the charts, don´t play just requested songs. Be yourself, read the crowd and play your tunes.

How would you describe your sound and style?
Funky tech house.

What can we expect from the mix?
It´s a one-hour hybrid mix, using my Pioneer club setup together with a Roland TR8S, that really fires some dirty beats to the breaks. Just listen and have fun 🙂

What news do you have for the year ahead?
My Label Eckbank Records will release it´s first vinyl only release with some friend acts on it. We will start an own series of events clubs and open airs. Stay tuned for news around the label and myself in the near future.
