TGMS Future Stars #52: Michael B

Michael B is an Italian DJ, producer and remixer. During his DJ career, which began in 2006, he collaborated with promoters, events and many radio stations. At the same time, he devoted himself to production: he published several albums and compilations with different European record labels, winning several national contests. In recent years he has created a radio show, called B-Tronic, that is currently broadcast on 11 European radio stations. During his DJ mixes, he proposes all the latest Techno and Progressive House news. He also recently produced his first LP, called “Wild Engine“.

Where do you come from and what makes that place special so special for you?
I’m Michael B DJ and I come from Este, a small city located in northern Italy. I love this city because there I find everything I need, even if it’s quite small: there are places where you can have fun but you can also simply take a relaxing walk in some quite street where you can also see beautiful views. I am very fond of my city because when I’m there I feel at home. My city is also important for my music because I often take a walk to get inspiration, before I immerse myself in my music.

What have been the main influences that got you started with electronic music?
Electronic music has always fascinated me and I feel magic sensations every time I listen to it. I have been enchanted by it since I was a child. As soon as I started I immediately built my home studio. The thing that most influenced me the was the desire to create and express myself through music.

How has your music been influenced by other artists, musicians, or life in general?
I went through different periods during my life and every period was quite different from the other. I listened to different kinds of music during each one of these periods. Because for me music is strictly connected to what happened in my life: when I was a child I listened to commercial music; during adolescence, I listened to Hardcore music; today, at the age of thirty, I listen to Techno and Progressive House. Perhaps in the future, I will have the opportunity to discover and appreciate other colours of music. The artists who influenced my musical career and my life are definitely Popof, Deadmau5 and Charlotte de Witte.

How would you describe your sound and style?
I am a person who loves to experiment with different sounds. I believe that music is the ideal place for experimentation. My music is always full of effects and bass lines. It is always changing. I love the dark side of Techno and the melancholic sensations of Progressive House.

What can we expect from the mix?
I carefully selected each track trying to express myself. My DJ mix will make sure you’ll live an exciting hour.

What is your absolute favourite track of the moment?
At this moment I really appreciate the last albums of Deadmau5. Just because you can find different kinds of music on it. My favourite track of the moment is Monophobia.

What is one thing that would make your musical career more successful?
I think the best thing to do is to keep having fun without limits. Currently, my music and my DJ mixes make me very satisfied. I, therefore, believe that this article on Tanzgemeinschaft is certainly an opportunity.
