Born Dion Mons in the Netherlands, he began immersing himself in electronic music at a very young age, quickly shaping a distinctive sound that blends hard-hitting kicks, melodic elements, and adventurous textures. Known for pushing the boundaries of hardstyle, Devin Wild incorporates influences from hard techno, drum & bass, and cinematic soundscapes, creating tracks that are both energetic and emotionally engaging.
Throughout his career, he has performed on some of the world’s biggest stages, including Defqon.1, Qlimax, Tomorrowland, Decibel Outdoor, and Mysteryland, captivating audiences with his dynamic live sets and unique approach to music.
Some of his most notable releases include “Into the Night”, “Immortal”, “Blow My Mind”, “Impact”, and “Lunatic”, each showcasing his ability to fuse euphoric melodies with driving, hardstyle energy. Beyond individual tracks, Devin Wild continues to explore new musical directions, solidifying his reputation as an artist who constantly evolves and pushes the genre forward.
You mentioned that “Among The Noise” was created over nearly a year — how did your creative approach evolve during that period? Were there moments when you reconsidered choices or sonic directions?
For this project, I worked within a certain style and theme over a longer period of time. It gave me room to try things I don’t usually do very often, like new elements and different song structures. The project reflects how I felt at that moment and certain phases I was going through, which naturally shaped how it evolved.
Over the years, you’ve built a very recognizable identity: what are the essential elements of your sound that you always feel the need to protect in every release?
I think you always retain your own style as long as you make choices that you really feel deep down and that you stand behind 100%. Everyone is unique with their own mind, and as long as you stay the purest form of yourself, your identity will always be there.
Looking back at your early steps in the hardstyle scene, what moment do you consider the true turning point that defined your artistic path?
I can’t name a specific moment. My musical development has always run parallel to my personal development. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve started to think differently, weigh choices differently, and value a certain form of integrity more. My taste has changed as well, which is all a fairly natural process.
You’re known for a very cinematic and immersive creative approach: how does one of your tracks usually come to life? Do you start from an emotional idea, a sound, or a visual concept?
When I start working on a track, I often already know what my goal is and what it needs to achieve that. That usually determines the structure and whether vocals play a role, since vocals can add recognizability and give a song a clearer structure.
You’ve collaborated with many artists and created very diverse tracks: what guides you when choosing projects and collaborations?
Looking back, I learned a lot from the processes involved in working on individual tracks with other artists. While this EP is more solo-focused and built around a specific theme, those experiences naturally influenced how I approach music now.
During your live shows, you manage to create a strong connection with the audience: is there something you always try to convey, or a specific emotion you want them to feel?
For me personally, continuing to develop, learning new things, meeting new people, and staying active creatively is the most important thing. That mindset is something I try to bring into everything I do, including live shows.
